Who we are

Sophie breeds traditional, rare breed chickens and also sells hybrid laying hens in various colours. Poultry keeping is our hobby and we breed a limited number of birds per year. We are not a large commercial venture but we do have surplus young stock and adult birds for sale. Hatching eggs are available in season.

She lives in Skibbereen, West Cork with her husband, 2 small boys, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 10 ducks and lots and lots of beautiful chickens!

Sophie's Hens

All our birds are free ranging, some too much!, and we try to be as organic as possible. We recommend Verm-X as a healthy, natural protection from all known internal parasites.

Sophie's husband builds and paints chicken houses with the help of a friend. They have a few tried and tested designs but are open to new ideas and suggestions. In theory, anything is possible and in any colour.
